Personal information: Yves Fomekong Nanfack yvesf@science.uva.nl http://staff.science.uva.nl/~yvesf/ PhD student UvA: Simulation of Developmental Regulatory Networks Supervisor: Dr. Jaap Kaandorp Past & Present: I was born in Yaounde where i lived for 4 years then, i moved to Geneva, Monrovia, back again in Yaounde and back again in Geneva where i did my studies in Computer Sciences and Math. During my studies, i was interested in image processing, developing simulation software mainly in Cybernetics and parallel computing. I did my diploma thesis in a biotechnology company where i studied the feedback loops in metabolic pathways. That's how i get interested in the computational and modeling aspect of biology. Since October 2004, i am involved in the CLS's project. The main goal of my research is to retrieve quantitative real data from images and the parameters optimization of the mathematical models. Beside research, i like reading. If i would have one big question in my life time, it won't be a scientific one, but just an humanist one: how could we make all human life better on hearth? What else? Of course i enjoy cinema, clubbing and all the that fun. I like good food, i would even say "gastronomy" but i don't mind eating a Big Mac sometimes to times. I play basket ball, so far for more than 15 years. I am a blues and jazz lover. My big regret? Haven't seen a Nina Simone's live before she died.
