Yousaf Habib PhD Student (MAS 1) at CWI E-mail : habib@cwi.nl Office : 020-5924077 Mobile : 0627156299 My name is Yousaf Habib and by origin I am from Pakistan. Before moving to Amsterdam I was living with my family in Lahore. Lahore is an old city with lots of historical places that includes in particular the palace of Mughal emperor and some very beautiful gardens. As far as my education is concerned, I did my Bachelors in Mathematics and Physics from the Government College Lahore followed by a Masters in Mathematics from the Punjab University Lahore, Pakistan. Having completed the Masters degree, I went on to do the Adavanced Masters course in Mathematics a.k.a Part 111 of the Mathematical tripos from the University of Cambridge, UK. My Master thesis was entitled "Numerical Methods for Differential equations in Lie Groups". I worked on it with Prof. Arieh Iserles from the Numerical Analysis group, DAMTP. Further to my completion of Part111, in 2003, I started to work in CWI as a PhD student under the supervision of Drs.Joke Blom and Prof. Jan Verwer in 2004. Currently I am working towards the development of an adaptive finite element code to solve reaction-diffusion PDE systems with irregular, dynamically changing, interfaces. These type of equations arise when we model the reaction-diffusion phenomenon that take place in the cytosol and on the boundary of the the living cells. To cast a light on my hobbies, I would say that I changed them with the passage of time. Initialy I started to play footbal when i was in school team then moved on to play table tennis for my University team and then developed a liking for rowing during my Cantab year where I realy enjoyed the races as being part of the participating team. Not to mention my love for Cricket, if you don't know what it is ask me :-). I started playing Cricket right from my childhood and still I have a strong affection for it.
