I graduated from Warsaw University (Poland) with a MSc degree in Physics, specialization of Biophysics in September 2003. My Master's Thesis: "Particle-based algorithm for modeling of simple biochemical networks in space and time" was based on work I did during my scholarship at the VU/AMOLF in the group of dr. P.R. ten Wolde. Then for couple of months at the Centre for Math. & Comp. Modeling in Warsaw I worked with dr. W. Rudnicki on things like code parallelization and models' coupling. I started my PhD at CWI in August 2004. The main goal of my current work is to develop adaptive, multi-scale numerical methods for cell biology. "What is life?" - that's the biggest and most disturbing question for me. I wouldn't dare to say it's my main research interest, however I would be very happy if I managed to contribute a little bit to that direction of scientific research. I enjoy looking at the biological problems, describing them by mathematical models and finally implementing that 'in silico'. It is interesting for me to see how close (or far) we are to reality when modeling things on computers. My hobbies: biking, which I love a lot, I don't consider sport anymore here ;) I also like swimming, and recently have discovered squash! I'm a big fan of airplanes, but since I cannot fly them (yet!) I just enjoy looking and taking their photos. Besides, I like all the standard stuff such as music, concerts, reading books, cinema, cinema, cinema...
